A Simple Guide to Vitamin A

A Simple Guide to Vitamin A

Just as the rest of our body benefits greatly from a daily dose of vitamins, so does our skin. When applied topically, and in the right formulation, vitamins help protect our skin from certain external stressors while encouraging and stimulating natural processes deep within the skin that keep our complexions youthful and vibrant.

Our LUMEN skincare products are formulated with an array of different vitamins, all of which serve their various roles in providing health benefits to our skin. In this blog, we will be discussing one vitamin, which many people may not immediately associate as a vitamin due to its more popular and widely used moniker: Retinol (or retinoic acid.)

The Role of Vitamin A as a Co-factor to Collagen Stimulation

Retinoic acid is a form of Vitamin A commonly used in skincare due to its many age defying benefits and its ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity.

Vitamin A is an antioxidant, and as such it helps protect the skin from oxidative stress. But the main benefit of Vitamin A has to do with its ability (when used in combination with vitamin C) to both help prevent the breaking down of collagen in our skin and to stimulate new collagen growth.

Collagen is a protein that exists throughout our bodies. In our skin, it is vital for maintaining a flexible, smooth, and youthful appearance. As we progress through life, natural levels of collagen in our skin begin to diminish. Certain outside influencers such as prolonged and unprotected UV exposure can greatly accelerate collagen loss. It’s important, then, that we use topical skincare products that contain Vitamin A to aid in skin renewal and to improve overall texture.

LUMEN Products Formulated with Vitamin A

Our medical-grade skincare line has been formulated with different categories of treatment products designed to provide users with options to build their own daily care regimens. For patients interested in products containing the transformative benefits of Vitamin A, we offer a few options.

  1. Restoration + GF

Restoration + GF (growth factor) is a powerful skin retexturing and brightening cream that delivers a combination of brighteners with Nicotinyl trichloroacetamide, a gentle retinoid (Vitamin A) and broad-spectrum antioxidants Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Ferulic acid ester. 1. Neck Define

This true retexturizing balm has been specially formulated for use on the delicate skin of the neck area. This product is formulated with antioxidants and skin enhancing peptides to smooth and improve the appearance of skin tone and texture.
